Hi there! My name is Marco Bodt. I come from the southern Wall Rose town of Jinae. Hopefully, throughout our time together, we'll learn more about each other and become close!

ค;; The blond really felt bad about bringing this topic up, but it was something that was eating away at him. And him being the curious one he was, wanted to get to the bottom of this. One day, this might just get him in some serious trouble with the wrong type of people. But right now, it was Marco they were talking about. Jean could’ve sworn that it was Marco’s body that they saw, and he was so heartbroken over it all.
“I… guess it does.” He mumbled, his expression a bit blank as he processed things in his head. It still didn’t add up, now looking up at Marco, his expression stayed the same. “If that’s the fact though, why weren’t you with us the rest of the time? You disappeared if that’s why, and why dissapear?” Armin was always the one to find out different scenarios and try to piece together what one felt like it worked best.
Marco really disliked all the questions; that’s all he’d be faced with if anyone found out the truth. How did he die? When did he die? How did it feel like? Did he remember his last moments? How is he alive now? All these questions he could not answer. He understood Armin’s curiosity, but at the same time detested it since he had a feeling that if anyone was going to figure him out, it would be him.
"Armin, I’m not sure myself." Marco replied, with a frown and genuine look of how lost he was about finding an answer to his question. "All I remember is losing conciousness during the battle and then waking up in one of the barracks at training camp." He longed to tell him directly, but what would he tell Armin? That he thought he died and came back to life? That was more unbelievable than his lie. This type of information would get him labelled as some lunatic. “But I didn’t die. How would I be here now? It doesn’t make sense.”

Hange couldn’t help but laugh at the compliment. It was more than clear to her he was nothing but a new flesh on the line. His cheerful ways made her remember how back in her own trainee days she thought of the military and the Scouting Legion as something big. Possibly every single child did whenever they heard how they’d courageously go on multiple quests to face titans. Sadly it wasn’t like that.
“What can I say, we work our asses off doing research.” Aside it took her good amount of years to get to where she stood now. But after she learned to view titans in a different perspective she felt a little less hopeless about humanity’s faith. It was that or because she had Levi around and he’d kick ass. “Marco Bodt…” She repeated as her smile disappeared slowly.”You have a dream division to be part of?” She knew because of the recent events most of the soldiers would join something far away from titans, as well she knew how some people just never considered the Recon corps, she did not blame them at all.
Crossing her arms never losing sight of the young one in front of her she could see his own need of suppressing whichever doubt he had in his mind, perhaps any worry as well. It did not seem like he had run into his comrades yet or at least that’s what he stated clearly to the woman. "Cheer up, freckled boy. You have woken up and that’s what counts. There’s nothing to sulk around of what happened during the retake of Trost. And if you got injured is better to have you here healing your wounds than count you in the increasing number of dead soldiers during the event.”
The question though caught her off guard. What could she think about those who had given their lives during that battle. “Well, I think they were brave. See we weren’t around when the titans had breached the wall and got inside the district, unfortunately we were in an expedition in the outer lands, by the time we got back most of the Garrison and the trainees who had just graduated faced those titans trying to protect Eren.”
“I hold respect for them, specially for the trainees, they didn’t know something like this was about to happen, and they gave out their lives to protect humanity. It’s because of them that now we have advanced one step closer to regain humanity’s freedom in this world. Ahh, but tell me, what do you think about the soldiers who gave up on life during the mission?"
The amount of research too! They risk their lives for the research they bring back. Their skills were above everyone else, even, in his opinion, above the military police. There’s no doubt that the king appreciates their diligent work. “It must be. I don’t know how you can withstand it… You all must have something to really motivate you.” How could they not? It was safe to assume that they had both witnessed their comrads fall at some point or felt that overwhelming fear the titans brought. Unless they were like Eren, whose anger for the titan’s conquered his fear for them, what got them to overcome their fear?
Marco’s expression brightened at the question. He knew what he would be thought of if he said his dream division. He’d look like another boy who was running away to be tucked in the safety of Wall Sina. That was a benefit, yes, but that wasn’t why he wanted to join it; that would never be a reason why. He didn’t have the motivation to join the Recon Corps, nor was he all that fast to be able to escape a titan’s grip if he was running, but if he had to face a titan to save someone else’s life, he would do it. His main goal, though, was to be the King’s personal guard. It had been his dream since he was small. “I want to serve the king and join the Military Police.” He answered proudly, almost in a too excited voice.
Her solace did cheer him up. Overall, she was right. He shouldn’t be upset over this. He was alive and he could find a way to work around ‘being missing.’ The situation could’ve been worse; Marco could’ve been deemed dead and then he really would’ve been in trouble for reappearing. He was alive and who could be more thankful for that? “Thanks. I guess I’m just a little frazzled by the situation. You forget to see the good out of the bad sometimes.”
Marco listened attentively. It did help knowing that they were respected, he just wished they would’ve known that. They did have a choice to leave without punishment, yet so many stayed to fight and they still faced disillusionment. Not that Marco could blame them since he had started to doubt their mission would be successful too. Knowing that they at least were appreciated after giving their life showed that they had helped humanity progress.
He hadn’t been expecting the return of the question so the first thing that left his mouth was a hum in thought. “Er…So many of them died before Eren had lifted the rock. Most of them were just like I was in the beginning; distraught for having to face the titans again. They had a drive to be a part of the plan, but even that dwindled after waiting for the plan to take action. So many died seeing the mission as a failure and so many thought their death was for nothing.” His face remained stoic, starting to gain the capability of talking about the dead soldiers with indifference. He cared, but he didn’t want to show sorrow every time he mentioned them. “I wish that they just knew how much their life was worth and that their death was more than just another soldier dying.”
His lips that were in a straight line curved at the ends, attempting to switch the topic to a more cheerful note. “But we can honor them by gaining humanities freedom.”
ค;; The smaller male puffed out his cheeks again, pouting as he should of realized that Marco was just picking fun at him once more. Well, he wasn’t causing any harm so he wasn’t going to get so caught up in it anyway.
“Yeah… where do people come up with this stuff?” He began, sighing as his hands went to rest at his sides. As Marco leaned to whisper something to him, he put his hand to his mouth to muffle his laughter. Is that really how bad the rumors got around here? “Wonder who’s starting them…” He trailed off, still laughing a bit as he talked from what the taller male told him. Now growing serious, Armin gave a nod, trying to be as calm as possible when going about this. “Yeah I—- Marco… everyone thinks you’re dead, Jean said he saw you…”
It really was a wonder. It was like they thought they had nothing better to do but focus on those type of relationships. Sure there were some trainees who got together, but the soldiers were more focus on their survival; whether that be in training practice or fighting a titan. Love and concern for your comrades were already hard enough to harvest lately. Being in love with someone was just…well…a tragedy in the world they lived in. Alright, he should not be thinking about this so seriously and so negatively. When did he start doing that? “I’m a little curious why they are so focused on it.”
Marco didn’t notice how solemn Armin grew until he voiced his thoughts. His face paled and his cheerful demeanor faded. That was unexpected. He hadn’t even thought Armin knew. It took him two seconds to catch himself; his smile returned to his face and his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “Huh? Armin, doesn’t that sound a little crazy?” Marco asked, feeling a light blush crawl up his neck in embarrassment from the situation. “He must’ve identified the wrong person.”
He hated having to lie like this. He hated it more that he had to put Jean on the spot. God, he felt sick hearing that his friend had been one of the people to find his corpse, but he couldn’t let that show.
Wait, there’s an event going on?
Anonymous: In all seriousness Jean still thinks your dead. How do you feel about that? Have you even gone and said hi to him?
The smile that was constantly set on his lips fell. He was expecting another silly question of confirmation for a (most likely false) rumour about one of his cabin mates or a sillier one about Jean. This one, however, threw him off by both tone and context. “I…” It took Marco a moment to form his words, lost with how blunt the question was. There was an uneasy feeling in his chest caused by the confirmation that Jean knew he was dead. Fear was driven into him and he didn’t quite understand why. Possibly because it only furthered his resistance in ever meeting with Jean again. “I don’t like it.”
He felt accused by the second question. The guilt that gnawed at his mind worsened. He was purposely avoiding seeing Jean. He was purposely avoiding seeing almost anyone he knew. It would be confusing to explain to them that he was somehow alive again, and there was a large chance he would be found out by the court if anyone knew. He didn’t want to become some sort of freak show or have his friends look at him as if he were artificial. He knew this would happen since if he were put in their situation, he would look at his revived friend the same way.
"No, but I hope to soon. Don’t worry anon, I’ll make sure to greet him next time I see him around." Marco lied, forcing a smile.
Anonymous: Who would you rather sleep with: Eren or Jean?
Isn’t it obvious?
[[He’s being a little shit right now. You don’t understand. He’s embracing the rumour for his own humour to see what questions will derive from his answers
You’re playing into his game]]
ค;; He lost the second he started, he wasn’t good at this and he was challenging someone who was. Quickly his cheeks became quite a bright cherry tint once more. “I—- wh-what?!” The smaller boy squeaked, growing defensive once more as a different topic was pushed. “We-we’re not anything like that!” Armin was firm on that; but let out a huff soon after he realized he couldn’t say anything to Marco at this point without him getting the last laugh.
Marco had to clasp a hand over his mouth to keep from bursting out into a fit of laughter when he saw Armin’s reaction. Seriously, this boy was way too fun to tease.
However, he never liked to push people too far, so he held back pressing on the subject. “Yeah, yeah, I know. Don’t let the rumours get to you, though. They’re insane.” Marco leaned a bit closer to Armin’s ear, whispering, “In fact, I heard that Reiner has a huge thing for Bertholdt. I mean, c’mon, that’s a total lie!” Marco enthused before backing up and returning to his normal posture. “How’ve you been by the way? I haven’t seen you for some time.”
